What is GaN?
GaN stands for Gallium Nitride – a semiconductor material used in many of the latest consumer electronic devices for its ability to convert power to electrical signals with less resistance, higher voltage, and less heat.
How does GaN work?
Gallium Nitride is made from Gallium Nitrate and Gallium Oxide which allows electricity to pass through the material more efficiently.
This efficiency in conducting electricity means that less heat is dissipated. This in its usage allows for components within GaN enabled electronics to be placed closer together without compromising on safety and resulting in smaller & more power packed electronics.
How efficient is GaN really?
GaN is approximately 40% more efficient than Silicon in allowing electricity to pass through it. Silicon (Si) is commonly found in devices and other places where electricity needs to pass through.
Traditional silicon-based semiconductors are limited to 15-20% efficiency at converting electrical power into usable electricity. Also, Silicon cannot be used in high temperatures and devices like laptops tend to overheat often when they are charging or running on battery power.
GaN has several properties that make it desirable for many applications including the fact that it can operate at higher voltages and temperatures than conventional silicon semiconductors.
GaN allows faster charging times while protecting against over-heating, over charging and is portable!

Why choose GaN chargers?
GaN has been around for years but has only been recently used in the battery industry and is the latest in advance charging technology.
GaN is being used as the semiconductor in a new family of high power and high efficiency chargers that are smaller (almost 60% smaller), lighter, more efficient, and safer than existing models.
This means that smartphones, tablets, laptops, electric cars and more will be able to charge faster than before as well as run on a single charge for longer periods of time.
GaN tech seems to be the future because its ability to output more power than silicon at the same level of input power, making it a more energy efficient and ‘Green’ option to choose!
GaN allows for placing the components of a charger much closer resulting in significantly smaller and performance boosting chargers. Its lightweight and portability makes it very travel friendly.
All you need is one charger for your phone, laptop and tablet!
